ENG 442 Renaissance Literature

This course provides an in-depth study of the authors and literary forms that shaped England during the tumultuous reign of the Tudor monarchs. The sixteenth century saw political turmoil and the rise of a new monarchy, the introduction of new religious beliefs, and a flourishing of literature and the arts. This course traces the roots of the ideas and movements that gave shape to our modern world, including one or more of the following: Humanism, the Reformation, empirical science, globalism and empire, and national, racial, and religious identity. Course may be repeated to a maximum of 9 hours under different subtitles.
