NURS 350 Foundations of Nursing

This didactic, laboratory, and clinical course begins preparing the student to function as a provider of care.  This course explores concepts, theories, and principles inherent in the roles and competencies of the professional nurse and applies this knowledge to practice. Identified basic human needs, the nursing process, and basic nursing skills are presented and used to guide professional nursing practice in simulated and clinical settings.  Students are introduced to the care of the family, the care of older adults with acute chronic health problems, planning and implementation of patient care and basic illness by system. Students use the nursing process to provide nursing care to clients across the lifespan.
