POLS 220 Science Fiction and Politics

The examination of political and social themes in works of science fiction and fantasy. The focus of the course will be the critical reading of texts, both written works and film. Issues discussed include: identity, the Self and the Other, conflict and war, the organization of society, utopia/anti-utopia, and the relationship between technology and culture.
