SOC 271 Sociology of Religion
The study of the beliefs, practices, and organizational forms of religion using the tools and methods of sociology. Topics covered may include the relation of beliefs to social conditions, the role of religion in cultural formation and public life, religious pluralism and conflict, the nature of religious cults and sects, the influence of religion on racial, gender, and sexuality issues, and the affect modernity has on religious belief and practice.
Prerequisite
SOC 101 with a grade of "C" or higher.
