CMHC 735 Psychopharmacology
This course surveys the neurochemical, physiological, and behavioral effects of the major classes of psychoactive drugs, both therapeutic agents and drugs of abuse. The course includes discussions of drugs' mechanism of action, therapeutic indications, and physiological/behavioral side-effects. Special emphasis will be given to the evolution of the field (including newly developed treatments and emerging legal and ethical considerations) and to counselors’ unique roles in this changing landscape. (Required for licensure in Arkansas).
