ENGM 625 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems
Geographic Information Systems are computer management systems using computer/software to capture, store, query, analyze, and display geographically referenced data. This course is to provide entry level of geographic information systems to students. Geographically referenced data describe both the location and characteristics of spatial features such as roads, land parcels, and forest. The course will provide the basic GIS overview, mapping structure, data structure, data processing, data management, data manipulation and data analysis. A number of real case exercises will be applied with this course. Through those practical matters and case studies, students will familiar with the geographic information systems.
