ECE 450 Computer Networks

The course emphasizes the relationship between computer systems and network services. HTTP, SMTP, DNS, NNTP and other networking services are introduced and explained. The Unix operating system implementation of these services is studied. Network based programming projects are assigned to verify understanding of protocols and operating system issues. Security and privacy issues in a networked environment are addressed.
