EDUC 480 Foundations of Literacy II- Integration of Literacy Practices and Research

Integration of literacy examines the literacy standards, international reading standards, and studies exploring issues of curriculum integration. In grades PreK-5, students write about the texts they are reading improving reading comprehension and the learning of information from the texts. Writing about the texts has a bigger impact on learning than reading or reading and rereading. Various kinds of reading and writing in response to texts are effective. Text summarizations or retellings were most effective with younger students. These strategies are offered and demonstrated in this course.
