HMBA 611 Public Health Policy Considerations

This course will utilize numerous guest speakers, lawmakers, providers and funders to address the future of healthcare in the U.S. from both an economic and political perspective. An epidemiologic approach to population health will underpin most topics. This course examines the concepts underlying federal entitlement programs, private sector health benefit programs, alternative health policy approaches, potential insurance reforms, tax policy as it related to health care insurance, tax credits versus deductions, and federal regulation of prices for and supply of services.
