HIST 353 Cities and Suburbs: Ecology and Community in U.S. History

Examines the broad range of urban and suburban environments which different groups of Americans have called home, and the ways in which these locales have endured and changed from 1800 to the present. The course balances the study of cultural ideas, social practices, and institutional and political structures while emphasizing the influence of broad historical forces such as industrialization and immigration.
