ART 204 3-D Design

An introduction to the fundamental concepts, materials, and processes of three-dimensional design through traditional and experimental studio practices. Students investigate the elements and principles of design as applied to sculptural form, space, mass, volume, structure, texture, and spatial relationships. Emphasis is placed on visual problem-solving, craftsmanship, material exploration, and conceptual development through additive, subtractive, and constructed approaches to form-making. Instruction includes demonstrations, critiques, discussions, and hands-on studio projects designed to develop foundational competencies in three-dimensional thinking and contemporary sculptural practice.
