ENG 448 Early American Literature

This course explores literature from the colonial period in the Americas into the early National period (approximately 1820). The course may focus on particular regions, genres, and/or literary traditions, but will have an emphasis on the role of literature in forming, questioning, and challenging early conceptions of American identity.
